HOME
Say It Loud movie was created by youth filmmaker Jordan Coleman to explore the importance of education for African-American boys who lag behind their peers when it comes to success in the classroom.
Jordan, an honor roll student, noticed that many African-American boys at his school were not taking their education seriously. Instead, they dreamed of becoming a professional athlete or a rapper.
After doing research, Jordan realized this problem wasn't limited to the boys at his school, it is a national crises. With that information, Jordan made Say It Loud film. Jordan rounded up some of his friends' favorite celebrities and interviewed them for his docudrama.
Jordan's vision to create the film has turned into a national movement. Students of all races and genders have embraced Say It Loud and decided to stand up for education. Jordan's "School Is Cool" message is not limited to African-American boys, it is universal.
Now, Jordan encourages other youth to do something amazing that will make a positive impact in their community. Go out and do something to make a difference in the lives of others.
JORDAN'S BLOG
Hey Everybody:
My name is Jordan Coleman and I am 14-years-old. Two and a half years ago, I made a film called Say It Loud and it encourages African-American boys, like me, to do well in school and study hard.
Even though my film focuses on boys, the message is universal because everyone needs to good education in order to become successful.
It's whack when our parents tell us this stuff ---- blah, blah, blah, so I got a film crew and started taping what celebrities had to say about education.
My mom is a reporter so she helped me get interviews with celebrities that boys our age like and my dad was very supportive too. I interviewed Kobe Bryant, Ludacris, Busta, Michael Strahan, Terrence J, Vince Carter, Ben Wallace, Yung Joc, Hurricane Chris, Jadakiss, Swizz Beatz and Winky Wright.
I also interviewed Rev. Al Sharpton, Bronx District Attorney Mr. Robert Johnson and Newark Mayor Cory Booker, teachers, attorneys, police officers, businessmen, a bunch of boys my age, including my friends, and a few men who wished they would have studied harder when they were our age.
I put a trailer up on my website so you can check out what my film is all about. Now, I travel all over the country showing my film and encouraging kids to do well in school. This summer, I plan to travel to different cities to show my film to audiences of boys in 4th to 9th grade and their parents. Say It Loud and tell your friends about my web site.
Peace,
Jordan
